How to cancel Squarespace without losing your domain or your customers
Short answer: don’t cancel first. Build the replacement, keep your domain (it is billed separately and stays active), point your www address to the new site, then cancel the website subscription in Billing.

Build the replacement before you cancel
Once a Squarespace site plan is canceled, visitors see an expired-site message, so have the new site ready first. Enter your current address on the simple a site. move page and review a private draft built from your public pages.
Keep your domain
Squarespace's help center says canceling the website does not cancel the domain: the domain stays active and keeps billing on its own. You can keep it at Squarespace or transfer it later. Source
Point your www address to the new site
Change only the website record for www. Your email records (MX) stay as they are, so your inbox keeps working. Check the new site on your own address before going further.
Cancel the website subscription in Billing
In your site's Billing panel, choose the website subscription, then Cancel subscription and confirm. Depending on your plan you can keep access until the end of the billing period or, if you are inside the refund window, end it now for a refund. Source

What it costs to stay
Squarespace Basic is listed at $19 a month billed yearly (about $228 a year), or $25 billed monthly, as of August 2026. Website Builder Expert. simple a site. Personal is $129 once with covered hosting at $0; the domain is separate either way. Compare 1, 3 and 5 years.
Covered hosting is for ordinary informational and service-business websites. Stores, memberships, and custom booking systems may need another solution.
