What every service business homepage needs above the fold
Most visitors decide in the first screen whether to call you or go back to their search. For a local service business, that first screen has one job: make it obvious you do what they need, where they are, and how to reach you.
The six things to put up top
Before anything else, the first screen of your homepage should show:
- What you do, in plain words ("Drain cleaning and water heater repair", not a slogan)
- Where you work (town or service area)
- A tap-to-call phone number, or your booking link if you book online
- One clear next step (Call now, Get a quote, Book a visit)
- A real photo of your work or your team
- One line of proof you can back up: licensed and insured, years in business, a written-estimate promise
Then, below the fold
Your services with a short description and a starting price where you can give one, how your process works in three steps, common questions, and your contact details again at the bottom.
What to leave out
Auto-playing sliders, stock photos that could be any business, long welcome paragraphs, and anything that pushes your phone number off the first screen on a phone.
If you'd like to see this layout filled in with your own business details, a free preview takes about three minutes.
